VISION QUEST

A Vision Quest is one of the oldest forms of Native American Ceremony.  It is through this ancient ritual, that one seeks a vision for oneself, the people, and the earth.  It includes purification (fasting and sweat lodge), prayer and transformation.

It is held throughout the year, mostly in spring and fall.  The program includes preparation classes, a weekend dedicated to the Vision Quest itself, and follow-up class to discuss the Vision Quest.

Francine Straight-Arrow has studied with Native American elders of the Lakota Sioux heritage and has led Vision Quests and Sweat Lodges for 27 years.

In 1983, Francine Guillory (Straight-Arrow) received a vision on her first Vision Quest.  A spider was weaving a web, connecting many intricate threads. The spider spoke the following:  “My web is a symbol of eternity and unity.  Do as I do and connect people from many different cultures, nationalities, religions, and spiritualities.”  This vision took shape in the form of giving Vision Quests in wilderness areas of Northwest Louisiana in the United States of America.
